You’re going to be making some tough decisions if you’re transitioning from a regular home to a tiny one. In my situation, I went from 3,000 sqft to almost 500 sqft! And while I do have a not-so-tiny house with more storage than many tiny houses you may have seen, I still had to make lots of tough decisions regarding what I would do with sentimental items and keepsakes. Here are a few resources that helped me think differently about the things I had to part with, how I organized what I kept and how I try to maintain a stress free life with less. And no… I’m not anywhere near the level of the Minimalists… but I definitely see things differently now thanks to their perspective!
The Minimalists
This video helped me immensely when I was downsizing from a 3000 sqft house to a tiny house. It’s very hard to let go of things like my kids sports trophies and stuffed animals and school art projects. The solution I found in this video was to take photos of everything! Such a great remedy. I can now easily look back at photos of those items. Or in the case of school papers, I scanned them in and saved them to my computer and backed them up on dropbox!
The Minimal Mom

If you hear nothing else… you should hear that motherhood doesn’t automatically mean that your life will be a mess and that you will never be on top of it. As soon as you realize that you don’t actually need (and sometimes can’t even afford) most of the things taking up your space it is a game changer. Less stuff = less cleaning, less organizing and more time spent with your family.
Clutterbug

‘m a ladybug! I really do not like visual clutter. However… open any closet or cabinet in my tiny house and a pile of unorganized stuff is likely to hit you in the face! Open containers and bins completely solved my problem of how to quickly put items where they go. Take the quiz! As soon as I figured out which type I was, I was able to quickly find my solution and hit the ground running. Game changer!
A Slob Comes Clean

My biggest takeaway from this decluttering video: when you put an item away, ask yourself where you’re going to look for it. If it’s the junk drawer or the bathroom closet or the garage… put it there! If your response is simply that you won’t be looking for it… ummm… get rid of it. BYEEE!
Marie Kondo: Folding is Key!

This is exactly how I make every piece of clothing I kept fit into my bathroom storage drawers. When the drawers start getting messy, I pull out my bins, do a quick fold and am organized again in minutes.
I love this so much! Your house is fabulous, so I’m sure these are great resources. Looking forward to checking them out and thanks for sharing!
The clutterbug quiz and types were a mindset game changer for me!
